Filmbase WhatsApp Group Guidelines

Welcome to the Filmbase WhatsApp community.

These groups exist to help crew members connect, share knowledge, support each other and hear about opportunities within the Film and TV industry. To keep the groups useful and welcoming for everyone, please follow these guidelines.

Be respectful

Please treat other members with courtesy and respect at all times. Healthy discussion and differing opinions are welcome, but personal attacks, bullying, discrimination or harassment will not be tolerated.

Keep it relevant

These groups are intended for Film and TV industry discussion, advice, opportunities and community support. Please try to keep conversations relevant to the purpose of the group.

No spam or excessive self-promotion

Occasional recommendations or sharing of relevant services is fine, but repeated advertising, unsolicited sales messages or excessive self-promotion is not.

Respect confidentiality

Please do not share confidential production information, private conversations or personal contact details without permission.

No naming and shaming

Please avoid publicly criticising, naming or shaming productions, companies or individuals. If you have concerns about working practices or professional conduct, we encourage constructive discussion and, where appropriate, raising issues through the proper channels.

Avoid discussing identifiable workplace disputes

Discussions about working practices, job-sharing, management styles and industry issues are welcome, but should focus on general experiences and lessons learned rather than identifiable colleagues or recent workplace disputes. Moderators may ask members to edit or remove posts where they believe a discussion could reasonably identify another individual, even if that individual is not named.

Do not share screenshots without permission

Please do not share screenshots or copy conversations from this group into other groups, social media platforms or private conversations without the permission of the people involved.

Be mindful of volume

Large group chats can become difficult to follow. Please consider whether a reply is useful to the wider group before posting, and move lengthy one-to-one conversations into direct messages where appropriate.

Protect your privacy

Please remember that anything posted in a group may be seen by all members. Avoid sharing information that you would not want widely circulated.

Moderation and response times

The Filmbase team moderates WhatsApp groups on a best endeavours basis. These groups are not monitored continuously and members should not expect posts, complaints or reports to receive an immediate response. In particular, the Filmbase team may not be available during evenings, weekends, bank holidays or periods of annual leave. If you have concerns about a post or member behaviour, please contact the Filmbase team directly. We will review concerns as soon as reasonably practicable and take action where appropriate.

If you believe a post creates an immediate safeguarding, legal or welfare concern, please contact the Filmbase team directly on 07766118812 rather than relying on WhatsApp moderation.

Keeping the group useful

Filmbase reserves the right to remove posts or members whose behaviour is disruptive, abusive, misleading or contrary to the spirit of the community.

Remember why we're here

The Film and TV industry can be challenging at the best of times. These groups exist to help crew support one another, share knowledge and build professional connections. Please help us keep them welcoming, constructive and useful for everyone.

Thank you for being part of the Filmbase community.
