1:15-2:00pm (UK time) via Zoom
Our next Filmbase session is with award-winning film & TV Set Decorator Liz Griffiths.
The session will be for Set Decorating crew who’d like to hear the views of this leading HOD on starting out, navigating industry highs and lows, negotiating rates and professional career development within her teams.
Liz has been a Set Decorator since the early 1990s after a successful theatre career at The Royal Shakespeare company. She has more than 50 Set Decorator credits alone and has worked with Mike Leigh, Edgar Wright and Richard Curtis on some British film classics, among many others.
She recently Set Decorated the epic The Sandman series 1 and 2 over a three-year period, and in between created the worlds of Idris Elba's first Luther film. Most recently she has been working on the Second World War-era Operation Fortitude feature, starring Nicolas Cage.
We’ll ask Liz for her advice for juniors today, what her hiring process is, and what she looks for in her team members across the department, including the qualities she looks for her senior brigade.
Liz has been an integral part of The British Film Designers Guild, on committees at Bafta as well as championing the benefits of being in Bectu.
Sign up for the session below. Don't forget to submit a question if there's anything specific you'd like Liz to answer.
The webinar is FREE for Filmbase members and £10 for non-members. If you'd like to become a Filmbase member, click here.

Wednesday 13th May
6pm - 8pm
Filmbase and Data Reprographics are hosting a crew drop-in evening for members of the Art, Set Decoration, Props and Graphics departments.
The session will take place at the newly expanded premises of Data Repropgraphics, near Shepperton Studios. It’s a chance for Filmbase and Graphics Union members to get together, chat about upcoming projects, ask advice from more experienced crew, and meet potential new colleagues.
We understand how difficult it can be to make contact with employers or experienced crew members at the best of times, and this quieter period is causing concern for many across all levels of the industry.
It will also be an opportunity to have a look around Data Reprographics’ expanded premises. The team will be there and happy to show you their new wide-format printers, dedicated crew coffee room and more!
