  Our next Filmbase session - sponsored by Data Reprographics - is with Coordinator Rachel Dunn. 

  Rachel's Art Dept credits include Loki, both Wicked films, Snow White and Jay Kelly.

  Rachel is currently Coordinating on a major superhero franchise, one of the biggest productions underway in the UK, where she manages a team of Assistants across studio and location shoots around the world.

  Rachel works with Assistants every day, so she knows exactly what makes a junior invaluable on a busy production and what can trip people up in their first jobs. She sees looking after the juniors in her department as a key part of the Coordinator's role, and she's keen to help new Assistants get off to a strong start.

  We'll be asking Rachel:

  • What she expects from crew members in the junior roles on a job
  • The skills, habits and etiquette that make an Assistant stand out
  • How to find and land those first jobs
  • How she runs a team of Assistants on a large MMP, and what stepping up to Coordinator involves

  This session is for all Filmbase members looking to work as an Art Department or Set Decoration Assistant, as well as those thinking about stepping up to Coordinator, and fellow Coordinators who'd like to hear how Rachel tackles the role.

  We'll be talking to Rachel from 1.15pm to 1.45pm on Thursday 29 October, over Zoom.

  We are holding a Filmbase Crew Catch-Up on Saturday 7th November in Manchester city centre, from 11.30am to 2pm.

  This will be a chance for crew members to come together, to network, talk about the industry, jobs, rates, and just to ask advice if there's anything we can help with!

  We're teaming up with the Graphics Union on this one, so any Filmbase and Graphics Union members are welcome to come along - please drop by whenever suits!  

  Rob from Filmbase will be there and so will Lead Graphic Designer Thomas Love, who is co-chair of the Graphics Union.  

  We hope you can join us for coffee/brunch and a chat. The exact venue will be emailed to you before the event.
